Dyslexia in all of us.

Hi I would like to briefly describe my daughter life history how we as parents discovered that she is dyslexic.
What is dyslexia? It is getting more aware now that there are many young born at the pre school level having problem of reading and writing.
Normally parents will try their best sort to the best learning pre school available. Smart Reader, Kumon, Montessori etc....
When Yasmin was borned, we have taken her several time to see our child doctor at SMC , Dr.Lee. When she started to have problem sleeping, the Doctor advice she have to sleep in cool place , (with air condition on a hot night!!). Luckily the doctor don't advice us to move to Norway or Sweden!!.
Later at pre school, she will be crying and refuse to attend the preschool. Every morning my wife and I have problems to drop her.

One of the moment when spotted her just been sad and isolated at a corner not mixing with anyone. When she was 8 (standard 2), she came back with her report card all '0's. and she just dont feel guilty. Then we went to the school and the teachers just have no answer!!!!.

I took her to SmartReader one day and the teacher tested her and advice us to evaluate her via Kinwanis and I started exploring the web, discovered " Dyslexia" . It is a learning and writing disability. There are various level of this.

If you are slow in reading and writing at times when you were young and now feel that you are better, thats the possible recovery .

It is genetic and it is corrective. Nevertheless, learning are not only via writing or reading. Now via internet, mp3, mp4 , etc... other sense of our body are useful tools of learning.

Now Yasmin is 12, charming, brave than some of the brothers, happy and very talkative and with "Big Words". She can just come up with a phrase like "Mummy, you really have a short memory"!!!.

Mimmicking is her specialty.

What else can I expect from her?

Any of you think that you or any that you know having reading and writing difficulty.

Happy reading
